Banking Sectors

Banking Sector: Areas to be Focussed on

Banking sector has been by and large one of the booming institutions. Right from managing finance to accomodating easy credit notes, this sector has quantitatively shown a dominant position in every economy.

A distinctive product line with niche clientiele has been an exhaustive strategy that all the banks worldwide try to balance out. This primarily needs to increase the share of wallet of the existing clientiele. In order to do so, these days banks focus on various strategies which may or may not be very lucrative.

Here when we talk about share of wallet, it should be very clear that share of wallet means by and large rendering services or upselling existing products to the existing customers so that the banks abstract the maximum 'share of wallet' from the existing customers.Though this sounds interesting and seemingly is very effective, there are a lot of challenges and milestones to overcome. The primary challenge lies in integrating all the application softwares to a platform in order to synthesise existing customer database with the new customer database. This also requires providing the access to this database to various divisions and product line executives. A study revealed that European markets as compared to US markets need to advance more speedily to areas pertaining to Information Technology.

Various market players like Adobe are in the process to develop a software that would synthesise the existing customer data model.

The next big hindrance in increasing the share of wallet has been the existing management committees. The upper management does not ideally support the idea of accomodating a different strategic plan to various subsectors and the alignment of he database to a universal data pool. The management is very comprehensive about the fact that this may lead to a data theft, which ideally does not sound a good idea.
